Chapter 8: It’s The Little Things

Our glass partitions are in! In preparation for final inspections, our glass panels were necessary to ensure code-compliant protection at both stairs. The glass is 1/2" tempered, fabricated and assembled locally by our favorite folks at Oasis Glass. We've used them for all four bathroom shower enclosures, and had great luck sourcing them for these unique stair applications. The concept behind these full wall glass panels was to limit visual obstruction, highlight the contrast of black and white of our stairs and wall finishes, bring natural light to basement living areas, and modernize spaces, juxtaposing crisp glass with our old, refinished flooring.

While glass was being installed, Brian was busy building four beautiful, simple hickory shelves for the niche outside our master bedroom. He sourced the hickory from a barn in Stockbridge, MA, and applied a single coat of polyurethane to create a tiny bit of sheen, leaving the grain of the wood to speak for itself. Just perfect.

Stay tuned for my next post with video tour. At that point, we will have our stone counters installed, and work on the 750sf veranda underway. Enjoy!
